Colorín Lucky Pendant
Date
May 2025
The bright red Colorín seed from Mexico inspired the design of this bow pendant. It is known as Zompantle and Iquimite among other names. While this seed has traditionally been used for medicinal purposes it also contains a highly poisonous substance that has the power to paralyse.
The bow shape of the piece is influenced by 17th-century jewellery from the Low Countries. To me, bows symbolise girlhood, a term that carries significant weight and complexity. This piece serves both as a charm for good luck during transitional periods and as a reminder of more complex and uncomfortable emotions.
